CREATE YOUR OWN UNIQUE STERLING SILVER RING In this class you will be introduced to fundamental goldsmithing techniques, including saw piercing, soldering, forming, filing, and finishing. This 3.5 hour workshop is suitable for beginners. You will leave with your own, solid silver, handmade ring, crafted using traditional skills, and be guided at every stage. Come alone, with friends, or purchase as a special experience gift. Can I do this class? This is an entry-level session, so there is no need to have any prior experience. However, goldsmithing is hard. It requires focus and dexterity, so expect to be challenged! If you use glasses, make sure to bring them. It’s also worth noting that this activity requires a certain level of fine motor skills. If you have any concerns about your ability to participate, please get in touch prior to booking to discuss your requirements. This session is suitable for ages 12 and up, but under 18s can only take part when accompanied and supervised by one adult per child. See ‘Other Info’ below for details regarding under 18s participation. What to expect: You will be provided with the silver, and will be guided to texture using various hammers and/or apply a meaningful sentiment of your choice with letter stamping punches. You will 'turn up' your ring, and then solder under direct 1:1 tuition. You will be instructed in forming it to the correct shape, filing, and finishing. This takes a while and will make up the majority of the session. This class should run for 3.5 hours, without a formal break so be sure to come prepared for a proper sesh! Do I need to bring anything? All materials and tools will be provided. It might be an idea to bring some water and any snacks you might want to have over an evening. Please wear long hair tied up and ensure you are wearing closed-toed shoes, and to reiterate, please remember your glasses! Other Info: The class will have a maximum of eight participants, but there may be fewer. The ring made on the day will be a simple, flat, rectangular-shaped band, with two widths available to choose from. Your ring will be unique and may feature imperfections. When under 18s join the session, one adult per child must also join the session and take responsibility for supervising the minor's participation. Please note that minors are more at risk of injury from the activities of the session. Please consider their aptitude and the risks associated with using saws, hand tools, and heat.
