Making the Struck Pendant a burnt matchstick replica with Geri Toth

Some projects come together so naturally that they almost feel meant to be. This was one of those moments.

I wanted to share a recent collaboration with my good friend and professional editor, Geri Tóth. Geri and I go way back and I'm so glad he wanted to share his talents and skills to help me showcase my process. When he offered to create a short film capturing the making of the Struck Pendant, I knew it would be something special. He had a clear vision, shot all the scenes in my somewhat cramped and ill equipped for filming studio, and, of course, handled the editing.

Of course he's a good friend, but Geri's also a talented professional Scotland-based editor and colourist who’s worked on everything from high-end commercials to award-winning indie films. You can check out more of his work at https://www.geritoth.com/.

The film itself is fast-paced, high-drama, and full of movement, showing the full process of making the Struck Pendant (It's a realistic burnt matchstick necklace, and is part of the Spent Collection.) It even features a brief cameo from my best girl, Lottie. Find her nodding in approval partway through... it's how you know I did good.

This isn’t the first time Geri and I have worked together. Last year, he made a film for me showcasing my Core Collection, and he's also been instrumental in helping me to improve my photography generally. I’ll be sharing more about the previous film soon in a separate blog post. When I do, I’ll link it here so you can see both projects side by side.

For now, here’s the latest film, showing the making of the Struck Pendant. It’s now up on YouTube, for posterity and what not, and you can watch it below.
